Mr. James Willard McNeal passed away peacefully in his sleep Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at his home.  He was 73. 

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2017 at Pondtown United Methodist Church with Pastor Donna Cumbie officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.  Interment will follow in the Hartford City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.  Mr. McNeal was born February 23, 1944 in Geneva County to the late Sumpter and Seless Hollis McNeal. James was a graduate of Electronics Technical School in Birmingham. He worked for many years as an electronics mechanic and technician repairing aircraft radios at Warner Robbins Air Force Base, GA. He was a longtime member of Pondtown United Methodist Church.  In addition to his parents, one brother, Henry Rudolph McNeal preceded him in death.  Survivors include two sisters:  Lenora Williams of Greenville, TN and Ouida Lou Phillips of Slocomb; nieces and nephews:  Phyllis Phillips Voth of Enterprise, Terry Phillips of Slocomb, Julie Williams Shelton and Daniel Williams of Greenville, TN; other extended family and friends.   The family would like to express their appreciation to James's caregivers, Nina Powell and Jewel Grimes as well as the staff of Kindred Hospice Care.
