Mrs. Irene S. Graves of Slocomb went home to be with our Lord Monday, December 12, 2016 at SAMC. She was 91.  

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb with Rev. Coley Meyer Holloway officiating. A private graveside service will be held at a later time in Memory Hill Cemetery. 

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday beginning at 5:00 p.m. and continuing until service time. 

 

Mrs. Graves was born August 18, 1925 in Houston County to the late Henry and Blumie Wilson Smith. She received her cosmetology license from Wallace College and worked as a cosmetologist for many years. In addition she was employed at TG&Y Department Store in Dothan until her retirement. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who will be dearly missed.

 

In addition to her parents, her husband, Clyde Graves and brother, Angus Smith preceded her in death. 

 

Survivors include sons: Douglas Graves and Mark Graves (Sharon); grandchildren: Caitlyn Bradley (Donald),Hannah Graves (Michael) and Hunter Tedder; great-grandson, Grayson Leo Bradley; sisters: Loudene Bass and Dorothy "Dot" Waters; special nieces: Linda Sue Culverhouse (Jim), Sharon Cunningham (Terry) and Wanda Greinke; special nephews: Gary Smith (Charlene), Ronald Bass (Linda)and Paul Bass; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends. 

 

The family would like to thank Signature Health in Graceville and the Critical Care Nurses, Physicians and 3 East Palliative Care Nurses at SAMC.
