Mrs. Vera Mae Williams Aplin, of Aplin Farms in Malvern, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, December 1, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  She was 90.  

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 4, 2016 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory in Slocomb with Rev. Earl Hendrix and Rev. Coley Myer Holloway officiating. Interment will follow in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery with Mrs. Aplin's grandsons serving as pallbearers. 

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 1:00 p.m. and will continue until service time. 

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Mrs. Aplin's memory with your charitable contribution to Corinth Baptist Church, 327 West County Road 70, Slocomb, AL 36375. 

 

Mrs. Aplin was born September 25, 1926, in Dale County to the late Lee and Della Hughes Williams. Vera was a dedicated woman of faith, possessed a servant's heart and was devoted to her family.  She was a true "Southern Lady" whose pride was her country table, where she prepared countless meals from the produce grown on the family farm. She was a loving wife, caring mother and adoring grandmother who will be profoundly missed. 

 

In addition to her parents, her husband, Q.P. Aplin; son, Jimmy Aplin; sisters: Endie Ward, Ethel Keel and Flossie Keel; and brother, B.H. Williams all preceded her in death.  

 

Survivors include four sons: Gerald Aplin (Beverly), Lamar Aplin (Rhonda), Ronnie Aplin (Barbara) and Tommy Ray Aplin; thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
